facade restoration - te puni kokiri
Project Location: Wellington
Client: Argosy
Year Completed: 2019
Project Description:
Located on the corner of Lambton Quay and Stout Street, the Te Puni Kokiri building stands proud with its curved, textured facade.
Interact had the privilege of providing architectural services for Argosy to carry out a full facade restoration of this building, originally designed by Gummer and Ford and constructed in the 1940’s. Working closely with the Contractor, McKee Fehl and their specialist sub-contractors, Interact detailed a modern system for this Class One Heritage listed building whilst retaining all the original steel windows and the low level granite panels.
The new composite facade system allows for movement which the original system did not facilitate resulting in cracking and rupturing and blow outs of the original plaster system.
